How To Measure Ring Size
Standardized Sizing for Rings:
The good news is that most jewelry stores in the US, Canada, and parts of Mexico use the standard US ring size system for rings and other jewelry. This makes it easier to find the right size, no matter where you shop.
How to Measure Ring Size:
There are two main ways to determine your US ring size for rings:
- Measure an existing ring: If you have a ring that fits you comfortably on the finger you plan to wear the tungsten ring, you can measure its diameter or inner circumference using a ruler.
- Measure your finger: Wrap a strip of paper, floss, or piece of string snugly around the base of your finger and mark the spot where it completes the circle. Then, measure the distance between the marks using a ruler.
Why Slight Variations Might Occur:
While most jewelers use the same basic US ring size chart, slight variations can sometimes lead to a half-size difference in measurements. This can be due to minor rounding differences or even how the jeweler measures your finger.
Our Accurate Ring Sizer:
For the most accurate measurement, we recommend using our free printable ring sizer. This downloadable tool allows you to try different sizes at home to ensure a perfect fit.
Tips for Finding the Perfect Fit
Consider the time of day and temperature when measuring, as fingers can swell or shrink slightly. Always measure at room temperature for the most accurate results. If you're shopping for a wedding or engagement ring, account for the width of the band—wider bands may require a slightly larger size.

Common Ring Sizing Systems Around the World
For our international and US-based customers living abroad who need to determine their US ring size, we've provided a quick reference chart that covers the most widely used ring sizing systems globally. While not every country has its own system, the majority use one of these seven common ring size systems. Be sure to check with your local jeweler to identify which system they use so you can refer to the chart correctly. Below is an explanation of each ring sizing system.
US Ring Size System
Based on the non-metric British inch, this system is used in the US, Canada, and Mexico.
UK Ring Size System
Also used in Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. Sizes are denoted by letters, with half sizes indicating an increase of 0.75 mm in the ring’s inside circumference. For example, size C corresponds to a 40 mm circumference, while size C 1/2 is 40.75 mm.
European Ring Size System
Used in most EU countries, including France and Scandinavia, and also in Russia. This system follows the metric system, with size numbers representing the ring's inside circumference in millimeters. For instance, a size 40 means the ring's inside circumference is 40 mm.
German Ring Size System
Used in Germany and other European countries, as well as Argentina. This system is based on the metric system, but each size represents the ring’s inside diameter in millimeters. For example, size 18 means the inside diameter is 18 mm.
Brazilian Ring Size System
Primarily used in Brazil and some neighboring South American countries, this system has unique size increments.
Japanese Ring Size System
Used in East and Southeast Asian countries such as China, Korea, Singapore, and Hong Kong, as well as in South American countries like Peru and Bolivia. Similar to the German system, it is based on inside diameter, starting at 13 mm for size 1, with each size up representing a 1/3 mm increase.
Swiss Ring Size System
Created in Switzerland and used in countries like Spain and others influenced by the Swiss jewelry industry. This system is similar to the European system, except size 1 begins at 40 mm circumference, with each size increasing by 1 mm.
Important Notes
The chart below serves as a guide. The most accurate way to determine your ring size is to visit a local jeweler for measurement. Alternatively, you can order a ring sizer to ensure you get an accurate US ring size. Since sizing can vary between jewelers, it’s best to measure using a sizer from your preferred jeweler. Shipping takes 1-2 weeks, so if you're in a hurry, please get measured at a local jeweler.
Keep in mind the width of the band when purchasing a ring. Band widths range from 4 mm to 20 mm, and personal preference and hand size play a significant role in this choice. For a visual reference, check out our ring width guide with helpful conversions and images to understand how wide each ring is.
For International Customers
When placing your order, please include your ring size as measured by your local jeweler in the "order notes" section during checkout. This will help us verify that the correct US size is chosen. For more detailed conversion, you may refer to Wikipedia's ring size chart, but remember our chart takes comfort fit sizing into account.
